When will my baby sleep through the
night?
Each baby and each parent is unique so there is
no magic number or guaranteed time frame within which your baby will sleep
through the night. Most babies exposed to a consistent feeding time/wake
time/nap time routine respond by sleeping through the night at around
the eight-week timeframe. This is an average timeframe; some babies might
respond sooner, some might take longer.
Why does
my baby cry?
Babies cry for a variety of reasons—not just because they are hungry.
Babies cry because they are in pain, are uncomfortable (as when they have
wet diapers), are hungry, are startled, are tired, want to be held, etc.
The key is to learn your baby's different cries and what they mean.
Is a routine
safe?
A routine is the safest and healthiest feeding method for your baby. A
consistent routine puts you in control of when your baby eats, sleeps,
and is awake. A routine helps you to document your baby's habits and activities
to ensure your baby gets enough to eat and enough sleep. When your baby's
eating and sleeping patterns are constant, it is much easier for you to
spot inconsistencies which act as "red flags" or warnings that
that there might be a problem.
